iRest meditation helps manage stress and improves sleep so that you feel more at ease and ready to authentically show up for what matters most in your life.

This 6-week class will teach the steps of iRest Yoga Nidra meditation through thoughtful reflection, brief voluntary discussion, and practice.  As an integrative form of guided meditation all you’ll need to do is follow along with the instructions.

What to expect:

Class material will build on itself each week with each class emphasizing a step of iRest meditation.  With fuller understanding of how iRest works you’ll be able to begin practice on your own.  Though learning will be advanced with each class, you can still benefit from participating even if you cannot attend all dates.

Every class will begin with learning and brief discussion about each iRest meditation step.  Most of class time will be spent practicing meditation.  At the end of class participants will be invited to share their experiences or they may choose not to share.

Who should attend:

Anyone who wishes to improve their health, ability to cope with stress, broaden their awareness, or get better quality sleep will benefit from this class.  Since this is not psychotherapy, everyone regardless of location is welcome to participate.  This iRest meditation class is appropriate for ages 14+.

Participants may join through virtual meeting or may join by telephone.

 

Common questions:

  • Do I need to have experience with meditation to benefit? No, whether you are new to meditation or have a lot of experience, iRest will meet you wherever you are.
  • How will I feel during the meditation? You may feel like you are in a place between sleep and wakefulness. You may be able to follow the instructions some of the time or your mind may be full of distractions. As you are able, invite curiosity of your experience. Every time you notice you’ve not been hearing, simply bring your attention back to the instructions.
  • What if I can’t relax? It’s quite common. Rather than ‘pushing’ this away or out of the mind, do your best to welcome challenges with relaxing as part of your experience. Remember, instead of ‘willing yourself to relax’, just be ‘willing to relax’.
  • Is it normal if I fall asleep? Yes. Many of us are sleep deprived so that when we are finally able to relax we are more likely to fall asleep.  Whenever you awaken, pick up the instructions to continue from wherever you are.
  • Is this some kind of religious practice? No, iRest respects and welcomes your age, culture, religion, and philosophical perspectives to personalize the benefits of your experience.
  • If I’ve already taken this class will I still get something out of it? Absolutely! iRest meets you wherever you are in life which means each practice is a personalized experience ripe for growth and connection.
